when I delete a file on a shared partitioned drive, where does it go? I cannot find it in the recycle bin of either computer accessing the drive. I also am unable to find it when I search the drives using the "Find" function.

Poof, its gone. Unless you get file recovery software and are able to
recover it from the drive where the file "physically" resided.
