I recently added Office 07 to my laptop running Vista. When I attempt to
delete a message from my inbox, the subject is struck through but continues
to be visible in my inbox. Very irritating. I can literally drag the
message(s) to my deleted items folder but deleted message continues to be
visible in the inbox.

I've searched Microsoft help and cannot find anything even remotely helpful.
I would be so grateful if someone could help me solve this problem.

You are using an imap account and this is the default behaviour, untill you
select Purge, to remove the deleted mail
PS No point in moveing any data from the imap folders to the Personal Data
Files Folders

This is because you are using IMAP. Use the Edit-> Purge Deleted Items
option to delete them permanently.
Other options are to change your view to hide Deleted Items and to set
Outlook to auto-purge upon changing folders.
