How can I get rid of it? It is really causing problems. I have compacted the
file and it still does not help. Some of these folders are ancient.

In what windows does it appear? What version of Outlook?

It appears when you are doing a mail merge in Word. When you have to choose
the folder from Outlook that has the data you want to merge with, you see
every folder you ever created in any part of Outlook. Really confusing for
even a power user, but try teaching it to a beginner! Any way, the version
hasn't mattered. My client has 2003 and I had the same problem when I had
2003. I tried it this morning with 2007, and it is still doing it.

Thanks
Terri

What you see if every folder you have that was enabled as an address book.
If you deleted a folder without disabling it, your Outlook Address Book
services may be corrupt. You should remove the bogus folders from that
service. I can't tell you that right now because I'm not at my OL 2007
system. Someone else may be able to jump in with the steps. In Outlook
2003, you'd click Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change existing directories
or address books>Next, select Outlook Address Book, click Change, and remove
the extra folders.

In Outlook 2007 it's Tools > Account Settings > Address Books Tab > Outlook
Address Book > Change...
