Okay, i'm glad about both SP1 (been running on my system for months
with no trouble) and SP2 (running for a week now with no trouble).
There's no going back for me. How do I delete the uninstall info to
reclaim the disk space? thanks.

Many issues may arise when you install third party software such as Norton
AV2004.
Not that this will make a difference.

To remove you backups you have to set your explorer to view all
files/folders.
The backups will show up in the windows directory. Each backup folder will
have a name similar to ($NtUninstallQ828026$). This is an example from my
Windows 2000 machine.

If it was me, I would leave it be.

You also need to remove the corresponding entries in the Registry, before
you delete the backup files.
