Depending on what's quicker for you, you could create a new pst-file and
then move your existing items and folders to the newly created pst-file and
then forget about cleaning up the old one.
File-> New-> Data File...
After you've moved all the items and folder you want to keep, you can set
the newly created pst-file as the default via Tools-> Account Settings->
button Next-> dropdown list at the bottom.
Restart Outlook and then disconnect the messed up pst-file via File-> Data
File Management...
Make sure you create a backup of the newly created pst-file in between just
in case there is some residue which could cause this all over again. In that
case, we can take further troubleshooting steps.
