You can put the logo you want using a product like IE Personalizer. The
manufacturer's site is down for the moment, but you can get it at different
locations like

and http://www.snapfiles.com/get/iepers.html

Ah, yes, but I need toolbar space. As Icons go it's a pretty nice one. But it
occupies precious toolbar space. So I want to remove it completely. Not
possible?

Please look at the second option I supplied you.
I don't see any difference between hiding it and removing it.
