Using Windows Messenger 5.1.... How can I delete individual entries from "My
Allow List" and/or "My Block List"? When I right-click on an entry, the
Delete option is greyed out.

Thanks in advance...

Greetings Tom,

In order for the delete option here to become available, the user that you're trying to
delete must remove you from their main contact list. Until they remove you from their main
contact list, the Delete option will remain grayed out.

In the case you wish to delete someone from your block list which is
greyed out. What happens if you add contact then delete it that way?

Taylor

Hi Taylor,

The contact will still be on the allow/blocked list and grayed out.

Hi Jonathon,

What I did was added the contact I had blocked (stranger) the person
name appeared in my contact which had a circle with a line through it.
Then I deleted the contact. It removed the contact completely, at
least it appears to.

Hi Jonathan,

Why such a stranglehold on removing people from the Messenger Allow/Block
lists? Is there any plan by Microsoft to change this policy? I should not
need to contact someone I do not know (stranger) or have to wait for someone
to remove me from their main contacts list. I am currently using Messenger
7.5. Seems like this has been a problem for many for some time now. I
currently have 2 addresses in my block list that I would like to be gone. All
I really want there is "All others".

Just curious...it actually is quite annoying not being able to do this.

Hi,

There are no plans to change this "policy", it's a fundamental design feature (or flaw to
some).

Hi Jonathan,

I am blessed (and cursed) with a very short hotmail address which I signed
up for in the early days. However this subjects me to unbelieveable requests
from strangers to add me to their MSN, such that my block list is now full.

Having read these threads, I have alleviated the problem by deleting those
which I can, but what does one do when the list becomes full with people who
will not remove me from their lists? That would render my Windows/MSN
Messenger completely unusable!!

Are there any "workarounds"?

Thanks.
