Does anyone know how to automate deletion of empty folders i Outlook.
It is especially needed after archiving of large folder structures.

Can it be done by programming or using 3rd party tool?

you could use:
Tools | Options | Other tab - Empty Deleted Items on Exit.

From Outlook help:
a.. Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting- Specify that all items in
the Deleted Items folder are deleted automatically each time Microsoft
Outlook is closed.

So it does not do the job wanted!
It just deletes content of ONE defined folder, not all empty ones.

If you delete the folder that has been emptied, it will. "Empty deleted
items" will remove everything from the deleted folder, inc. the folders
you just deleted.

In supporting Outlook for five years, I know of no tool, pay or free,
that does this. I instruct my users to archive by right-click-and-drag
the folder from mailbox to archive, then "move here" when prompted.
This is the only way that prevents duplication.
