There are 6.8Gig of duplicates files scattered around my hard-drive, 38,158
files in 13, 936 duplicate/triplicate groups. CCcleaner, Easy Cleaner and
other file finders find the files, but don't erase the useless duplicates.
That must be done manually, but which ones whould be removed?? Am using Win-7
clean installed couple months ago.

What program can be trusted to safely/reliably delete the unecessary
duplicates??

I wouldn't trust any program to do that. Tell us what the files are
and in what folders they are. With that info, we should be able to
give you advice.

And what makes you think they are useless?

Hi,

Duplicates are normal for two reasons:

a) shadow copies created as backups by the volume shadow service. This
applies to System Restore as well.

b) system files stored as backups to originals (used by system file
protection) and in the Winsxs folder for multiple versions to support
different software.

Don't delete any of them without being precisely sure of what you are
getting yourself into.
