Delete Duplicate Emails, Outlook 2003 PST, Gmail.

I see there are multiple 3rd party plugins to delete duplicate items in
Outlook but most are $payware.

Question:
Is there any official Microsoft approved tool to detect/delete multiple
items in Outlook; such as the 'Sysinternals' suite of tools?

I discovered that using IMAP (as suggested) to sync with Gmail - deleting a
message from in Outllook does not translate to "delete" in Gmail.

Gmail has a 'All Mail' feature that archives e-mail forever unless manually
deleted from within their GUI.
Hence I have 1000's of old emails in Gmail which I have already
read/deleted/moved from in Outlook but they still exist as 'All Mail' in
Gamail!!

I thought to move all messages from the Gmail folder to Personal (PST)
folders, delete 'All Mail' in bulk, then re-read + delete duplicates in
Outlook manually, but that's a pain.

Hence my original question.

MM.

No, Microsoft does not offer such a tool itself. Several tools have
"Designed for/Compatible with Windows" logo though confirming their
compatibility.

For instance the Duplicates Remover add-in from MAPILab;
http://addins.howto-outlook.com/mapi...moveduplicates

It's compatibility is confirmed here;
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/com...ilab&os=32-bit

For that specific add-in you can use "4PM76A8" to get a discount when
ordering.

More duplicate removers can be found here;

Thanks again Robert.

I've been reading other similar posts with suggested 3rd-party solutions
which I have bookmarked so many. Just a matter of trialing some.

Interesting response from Gmail...
"bkennelly has posted an answer to the question "All Mail Feature":

Every message in your account, except Trash and Spam, is in All Mail, until
it gets moved to the Trash. The messages are also visible by label in Gmail,
and each label is exposed as a folder in Gmail's IMAP. There is only one
copy of each message in Gmail, but it may appear in multiple labels/folders.

Gmail chose to map IMAP's "mark deleted" function to the Gmail Archive (or
"Remove label") action. You can still delete message through IMAP by copying
the message to the [Gmail]/Trash folder.

You can use Gmail's Advanced IMAP Controls lab to hide All Mail, or labels,
from IMAP, or to change the delete behaviour to more closely match other IMAP
implementations.
(In IMAP, "Delete" is a two stage process. The message is marked deleted,
but remains until it is expunged. By default, Gimap expunges automatically,
but the delete only removes the current label.)"

Yes - In Outlook, Gmail has it's own set of IMAP folders and PST.
However the same messages exist in both 'Inbox' and \Gmail\All Mail.

The pain is that deleting the message from the inbox does not delete it from
All Mail. They remain there forever!!

Since sysinternals is _owned_ by Microsoft, they must approve of those tools
in some way. Why else would they have purchased them?

Why not simply ignore the All Mail folder in gmail and not subscribe to it in
Outlook? That way it's out of sight and out of mind.
