This is sort of a moving target - with this The Shield Deluxe 2008
revelation by Daave.
I don't know if you have The Shield Deluxe 2008 installed or not, so
things may be mixed up now, but you can always reinstall 2008 if you
need to. Read all this first to see if it makes sense.
Backup your registry with this popular tool:
http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/
In your registry, navigate to here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
All the Add/Remove entries are here. Click on each entry on the left
between the curly braces {} to see the contents on the right.
Pay attention to the DisplayName fields and determine where SD is
installed (or thinks it is). DisplayName is what you see in Add/
Remove. If you delete the key (the {} entry on the left) from under
Uninstall, you will not see it in AR again.
SD was probably installed in C:\Program Files\PCSecurityShield... or
something like that. If you do not have 2008, delete that folder. If
you have 2008, leave the folder.
At least now you know that the stuff will not show up in Add/Remove
anymore.
I would reboot now, check Add/Remove and make sure it looks okay.
Try to remove your desktop folder.
If it still won't go, try booting in Safe Mode to remove it.
If still no delete, use unlocker which you can download from here:
http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/
Install it, right click the folder, check for locks and make the right
choice.
See how this works for you. If not, we can keep going.
