delete assigned task by owner

i have assigned a task to my colleague. now i have done it, and want to
delete the task before she starts working on it.

this does not seem to work

how do i proceed, so that she does not start working on a task which has
been done already?

Send her a message stating that the task is done. Since you assigned it to
her, she now owns it and you can't control it any more.

is it possible in 2003 to claim back the task?

Not that I'm aware. Assigning a task changes ownership.

got mixed up with 2007. in 2007 one can reclaim task, restore ownership so
that task can be modified

not sure about 2003
