delete an account in xp pro

I want to delete an account in xp but retain the files that are connected
with it, how do I go about it safely, and yes I have backups of the system
and data.

Just delete the account through the user account applet in control panel. It
should ask if you want to delete the files. Say no to that.

Thanks, I'm going thru a divorce and no longer want to see the ex's name on
my pc, but might need to get to those files for a short time, till she is
perm out of my life.
