Had a problem w/Roxio CD-RW program so I tried to do a Windows repair and by
accident chose new install. Now I have 2 Windows installed, 1 new w/o all my
programs and files and the other which does but won't let me into my control
panel/users and passwords and install/uninstall. It asks for a adminstrator
password and says that I am logged in as Pavilion\new user which is not part
of the administrator group. I have no idea how that changed but can't take
out Roxio CD program to install new one and can't (D) delete-won't let me,
the new version/partition that I now have. If its possible to delete the new
install Windows program and will it fix the log in problem?

Have you tried just hitting enter for the administrator password?

Is this really Windows 2000?

What happens if you choose start, and then shut down, and then log off?
What choices are you offered as users to log on again?
