I have built and uploaded a disk-based site in FrontPage 2003 for my company.
The site contains about 10 pages, some of them interactive with ASP and
Access. It is working fine. This website contains one page for company
announcements and circulars. This page is plain HTML.

I will be on leave for about one month and someone has to update this
announcements page in my absence. I want my assistant to post all new
announcements to this page in my absence. However, for security reasons and
company policy, I cannot give him access to other pages and contents of the
website.

I am relatively new in web designing/management.

Kindly let me know how best this situation can be handled.

You can only roles like Author, Advanced Author, and Administrator to the
whole site.

Perhaps you can put your Announcements page in its own subsite, and then
give your assistant rights to the subsite.

Mr. Buyens, I created a subsite and added the 'Announcements' page from the
root site to the subsite by adding 'New Page from Existing Page' option.

However, there are no navigation links appearing in the subsite. I want the
navigation bar, top and side, which is there in the root website to appear
along this page on the subsite when viewed over the Internet.

The Home Page of the subsite that I created is blank.

Kindly let me know if there is any remedy for this problem.

FP navigation components do not work outside of the root web or subweb/site they are created in.

Unfortunately, a subsite can't access or display the navigation structrue of
its parent site. You can, however, use either of these approaches.

o Create a "miniature" nav view in the subweb and make it include a link
back to an existing in the paren't site's home page (or whatever). In
the subweb nav view, right-click any node and click Add Existing Page.

o Add a Link Bar Witrh Custom Links to the subweb, and configure it to
display whatever links you want (i.e. to the parent site or elsewhere).

And it works fine.

Now how do I post the subsite? Do I need another IP address for this. OR can
I post it as a subfolder of the parent site. Kindly spare some time and let
me know the steps I will have to take in order to post the subsite.

Moreover, where do I keep the user record of my colleague who is supposed to
edit the Announcements page of the subsite? Should I delegate the role to my
colleague only after the subsite is posted? And what role should be given for
him to Edit/Modify the contents of this subsite? Please elaborate.

If you have created a Subweb for the Announcements page(s) under your root web
- Just Publish your root web w/ the option to Include Subwebs turned on
- Or publish the subweb directly to http://yourmainsietname.com/subwebname/

To Set unique permissions (for Editing) see
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;825451
Set the editor up as an author or advanced author

Your host needs to support subwebs and unique permissions (some don't)
