Last week I received and quickly removed files called
svcwinhost and aproxyhost from my PC as well as unchecking
them from startup in the configuration utility (and indeed
removing the entries via the registry). Ever since then,
there always seems to be a delay when I click on any link
while surfing. Does anyone know what the problem is? Prior
to this, IE always took its time to load the first page
when initially opened, but from thereonin, it sailed along.

p.s. I thought that this may be fixed when I just upgraded
from v5.5 to v6 but it didn't.

Thanks very much Frank. I did as you suggested and got rid
of a whole bunch of crap (why is it legal for
companies/people to do this?), but the delays are still
there. It took about 25 seconds to load the newsgroups
page. Anything else I can try? Would it be safe to
uninstall and install the program from scratch?

Paul.

It's safe, but I doubt if it will fix anything.
Did you post a HijackThis log per the instructions?
