I have a Windows 2000 machine that experiences a long (7-
10 second) delay when trying to bring up properties (or
copy/delete/move) for any .exe on a network share.
Interestingly enough, if I rename the .exe to a .zip
or .txt, the properties appear nearly instantly (< 1
second). Is there a reason for this? Again, the delay
does not occur when trying to view the properties of any
file type other than .exe.
I cannot duplicate the behaviour with a Windows XP
machine using the same shared network resource. The
Windows XP machine is on a different subnet on the
network, so perhaps this is a networking issue?
