Delay when playing

I've imported a movie of about 45 minutes. When I press
the play button in MovieMaker, the movie is frozen for up
to 20 seconds. Then the movie starts playing.

However, if I press the split clip button, the video clips
it 20 seconds forward - not the image that is on screen.
I end up losing the last 20 seconds of the video because
of the delay.

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks!

Greg

Hi Greg,

A couple questions.

What kind of source files are you using? DV-AVI from your camcorder, MPEG2,
AVI encoded with Divx, etc? Wondering if it's a codec related issue.

Do you have a large tree of collection bins and clips. The periodic 10
minute AutoRecover feature can kind of stop things for a bit as it backs up
your current project and collection database.

I am using MPEG2. I don't have a lot of clips - maybe a
couple of hours total.

Greg,

How MPEG2 files act is up to the codec that your computer is using, and most
of them don't work well in MM2. See the Importing Source Files... Video
Clips page of
