If I understand you correctly, you have a 70 gig hard drive, that is 64
gig filled. If that's right, the only way I think you can successfully
defragment completely is to dump more files/programs you don't want any
more or feel you can do without. You don't necessarily have to destroy
them - burn them to CD or copy them to a small portable drive or flash
stick. 10 gig would help, 20 gig would be a lot better. Then defrag
should run much better and do a better job of defragmenting. Defrag
needs more "elbow room" to do it's job than what it has there
(considering swap file, System Restore backups, etc).
And make a new, larger hard drive - or even a new computer - high on
your list of "things to take care of soon". If your 70 gig hard drive
has 64 gig worth of stuff on it, that computer (or drive) is too small
for your needs.
