Running Defragmentation gives error: The defragmentation
utility has detected corruption on drive (C:. Please run
chkdsk /f.

Running chkdsk shows no errors.

All the service packs and critical updates are installed.
I've run chkdsk in safe mode. Same results.

I do appreciate your input.

Cliff,

It is possible that what you are seeing is the following:

- Greg/Raxco Software
Microsoft MVP - Windows Storage Management/File System

Disclaimer: I work for Raxco Software, the maker of PerfectDisk - a
commercial defrag utility, as a systems engineer in the support department.

Have you run chkdsk /r? That will check for bad sectors in empty sectors,
which the defragger may be finding, and which chkdsk isn't looking for.
