My internet security offers a disk optimizer. I periodically defragment the
disk and want to know do I need to use the optimizer as well.

thank you

Is the name of this "disk optimizer" a secret?

Probably smoke and mirrors and probably not needed.

Hope this helps. Let us know.

Defrag performs "disk optimiizng" in that as it defrags it places
applications used frequently in beginning sectors on the HD.

your program,
your option.

perhaps you should
go to the disk
optimizers website
and see if you are
persuaded to use it
or not...

"Disk Optimiser" is usually another name for a defragmenter. You can
use one or the other. I see little point to using both.

You need to look at the Internet Suite provider's web site to get
specifics on their deik optimiser, and decide from there whether to use
it instead of the built in Windows tool.

Hi Dennis,

The closest thing that XP has to a Registry Optimixer is NTREGOPT It is
safe when used as directed, and will do no harm as compared to many of the
"snake-oil" applications available. They will often find a myiad of "fixes"
but only available for a price..This one is free, and comes highly
recommended. You may also check out ERUNT as a Registry backup that is far
superior than most om the market.

Most of these tools don't add any value beyond what can be done from within
XP, and some can cause problems. What is the security suite you have?
