defraging problem

      6th Dec 2003
when i try to run my defrag on my hard drive it gets up to
10% and then says sistem changed restarting this continues
on a endless loop what is this? and what can i do to stop
this from hapening? PLEASE HELP.

You need to stop any programs which are running continuously in the
background. If you have anything like a virus killer or a memory prog
like Rambooster they will run during the defrag and defrag likes
everything to just sit still and behave. So, shut down all unneeded
programs and run it again, and just leave it to do it's thing.

Run the defrag process in safe mode, if not make sure the
power settings are right, no screen savers on, no hard
disk off whie defrag is going on.

You probably have an anti-virus program running or a Norton program running.
Turn them off while you are defragging.
