When attempting to run Defrag, error message " Disk Check is scheduled to
run, please run disk check". I have run Disk Check, but still receive
message. Disk check not listed in scheduled tasks.

Any assistance appreciated.

Is this what you have?

It has taken the place of Windows Defragmenter if you have got it..

Try uninstalling via Add/Remove Programs..
