Hello,

I have a 160 GB Maxtor 2nd (data) HDD for which I installed large disc
support. All seemed OK until I rand the win 2k defragger - this caused loss
of some files (a significant number (e.g. say 20%, mostly latest files
written.
The Defragger stopped and I observed this when a viewed the disc in
explorer. Chkdsk showed no errors.
What caused defrag to loose (I was able to recover some from "fragments" and
others from a backup. However I do not now wist to run degfrag on this
drive!
Any comments / advice please. Thanks, Mel

About the only sure way I know of reproducing a problem like this is to
format the drive first and then enable large disk support after the
fact. If this is what you did then you need to reformat AFTER the large
disk support is enabled.

I think that this is what I did! - it was 6months ago now but it first only
recognised 137 GB. Then I added large disc support. Thanks Bob - we live
and learn !

PS I seem to have multiple posted this as when I tried the board responded -
there has been an error - try later. I did not think it had been posted at
all.
