I need a good Defrag program for Vista. I was using Norton
Systemworks, but it does not appear they will update it for Vista.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Even though I'm a longtime Diskeeper user, and still prefer it for XP,
Raxco's PerfectDisk is simply awesome on Vista.

What setting do you use with this? I find it doesn't pack the files near the
top as it used to do under XP but I'm afraid to change the settings from
default until I find the consequences acceptable.

Auslogics Disk Defrag is FREE and works with vista 32 and 64, also gives that neat little moving boxes display while it is doing its work.
be aware you need to do some system cleanup for any defrag to do its job the best it can.
IE cache, restore , event logs, all need to be purged.
also do a disk cleanup helps.

Auslogics has a great, free Vista defragger.

Norton 360 is the SystemWorks on steroids for VISTA .....

I've used the public BETA but for me it has too much in it! I'm back to
using Norton Internet Security.

But if you want a complete package that duplicates a lot of stuff that
is in VISTA then Norton 360 is worth looking at. Niether it nor NIS2007
seem to hog the system like earlier versions.

Hugh,
I have NIS2007 and use it including NAV, but I don't see a Defrag
program in it - am I missing something?

I am currently using System Mechanic 7 on Vista and am quite happy with it.
It does all the cleaning, fixes the registry and defrags as well. Beta
tested Norton 360 - didn't like it. Also dumped Norton from present Vista
system after 2 days - wouldn't update.
