when I run the defrag program it doesnt do anything, the program says that
it runs and ends fine, but 80 percent of the drive still shows red
afterward!!!

What to do??

this computer used to be on Exchange

make more space on that partition ... and run defrag again & again & again

Or buy a third party product like Diskeeper:

hi, quick question, it shows that there is 30% free space but on the
analysis of the drive there are no white bands. aka there is no indication
of free space.

Do disk cleanup, move some large amount of files off the disk to other
storage as means of getting some contiguous free space for the defrag to
work with.
