Up until yesterday the updates had been installing all along. I've tried
multiple times. WIN2000 SP2 with all othe updates current . Ay Ideas ?

Only a very wild guess... There were no updates yesterday nor today, Sunday
8/6/2006... check back for more fun Monday through Friday through August 15
when they should go back to roughly twice a week which is the normal update
pattern.

Maybe you made a typo, but I didn't think W2K SP2 is supported for running
Windows Defender ??? Can you really do that?
