When I try to open defender I keep getting "application failed to initialize
0x80070002". Can anyone tell me why?

Confirm your system clock and Time Zone also the Date set properly, Having
it set incorrectly can cause this type of behavior.


Can you go to Windows Update, select Express (Get high-priority updates),
and apply all offered updates

Once that is finished, can you verify the update installs? There are many
pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and signature update
with windows defender will fail until you have these f!les.
