I'm trying to run Defender, but everytime I do, or the computer starts up, I
get a "Windows defender has encountered a User inteface problem and needs to
close". I've sent the report a million times, but with no updates or fixes
to theat problem yet.

My OP system is XP and I'm running it on a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop.

I did see the posting regarding this specific issue that suggested re-naming
or even removing the gdiplus.dll file, which I did but to no avail. I ran
the on-line version of forefront and found a few problems and fixed it, but
it didn't fix my defender problem. I have uninstalled all anti-virus
programs. I didn't know if its related but I also can't start up the widows
security program. That says: a "Run a DLL as an App has encountered a
problem and needs to close"

Cany anyone help as I don't have any type of security or antivurus right now!!

Thank-you
JP

Hello JP,

You can (try) repair Windows Defender.

First exit WD, click the down arrow to the right of the white question mark
in blue circle and then click Exit Windows Defender; using Add or Remove
Programs in Control Panel. Click WD and click Change. Click Next, and then
click Updªte.

Reboot

If you still have the same message, try this:

First exit WD, click the down arrow to the right of the white question mark
in blue circle and then click Exit Windows Defender; using Add or Remove
Programs in Control Panel. Click WD and click Support Information and click
Repair.

Reboot.

Let us know how it works ºut
