Have you installed OneCare or Forefront Client Protection?
If nothing like that applies (those applications replace Windows Defender,
which should be disabled)--I'd try reverting the definitions to 1.0.0 and
downloading new ones from scratch.
You can do this by going to a command prompt in the folder Windows Defender
is installed in, typically c:\program files\windows defender
and typing:
mpcmdrun -RemoveDefinitions -all
Then go to WindowsUpdate and do an express scan.
