I've been using Defender for some time now. i've had it set up to run a scan
every day. In the last week, it repeatedly has indicated that I have not run
a scan in 5, 7, 9 and 10 days when in fact it has run a scan every day. I
deleted it from my system and reinstalled and have the latest updates but yet
today I opened Defender and it indicated that I had not run a scan in 10 days
when in fact it ran one earlier in the day. Anyone else having this problem?
If so, what's the fix for it?

Hello Arteful,

Am I correct in thinking that you are running CCleaner or another registry
cleaner?

Are you running CCleaner by any chance, and do you have cleanup checked for

Windows Defender in the Utilities category? If so, try unchecking it and

then running a scan. Having this checked removes the history of when the

last scan was run.

I hope this post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Good luck

Hello Engel,

As a matter of fact I am running CCleaner and after removing the check mark
you mentioned the problem seems to have disappeared. Thank you very much for
your suggestion and help.

The thing I don't understand is that check mark was always there until I
removed it today and the "no scan" message from Defender never appeared until
recently.

In any case, your suggestion seems to have eliminated the problem and again
I thank you for that.

Hi Arteful,

I am glad I could help and thank you for updating the thread.

It helps if you mark your initial question as answered--that will enable
others searching for an answer to find a correct one more quickly.

Was this post helpful to you?

Thank you.
