Hello Kipper,

The 64-bit version is for 64-bit OS versions. Is named Windows Defender64.msi
The 32-bit version is for the 99% of the users is named Windows Defender.msi
I hope that (this) post is helpful, let us know how it works ºut.

I received the same error but don't understand this response. At this point
I am unable to install defender because of this error. By the way I have a
1.6ghz processor.

Please go back to the download site and do a new download. Save the
downloaded file to the desktop, so that you can see the name. The proper
download should be windowsdefender.msi.

Do not download the 64-bit version unless you are running a 64-bit version
of XP.
