Defender will not scan when I tell it to

I set it to scan at 2am and it will not work then I get a notice in the tray
that I have not scaned in 3 or four days. Its anoying.

Have you tried this suggestion from Bill Sanderson?

"Is the Task Scheduler disabled under services? Microsoft Antispyware
schedules as a hidden task using the Windows Scheduled tasks facility--so
Task Scheduler needs to be available."

I am getting the sme results. And yes the task scheduler is enabled

also do I have to put up with the MPCMDRUN pop up balloon every time I re
boot the machine

Tell me more about this pop-up balloon--I haven't seen this.

MPCMDRUN is a command line portion of Windows defender. It does two
things--it get signature updates, and it performs scans.

What app is creating these balloon popups and what do they say?
