I get past the validation, it downloads but it does not run orinstall. So,
every time i open defender, it says there are new updates available. What is
preventing me from installing downloads and updates as it seems to happen on
other programs as well.

Hi Gerry,

That sounds abit annoying Its hard to comment as we dont know what it
preventing you from installing downloads and updates as it seems to happen on
other programs as well, Did it happen just once or just after you installed
something or has it happened a few times?

Does AutoUpdate work on your system?
Try going to Windows Update and applying all offered critical updates.

There are many pre-requisite files which are needed from windows update and
signature update with windows defender will fail until you hªve these f!les.

Also test this WGA diagnose test, connection to MS, that scripts working and
a new Validation tool
