Yes, you have too many things going on at once.
AVG, in their most recent version, intentionally disables Windows
Defender--at Microsoft's advice. Microsoft advises that only one
application do real-time monitoring.
You can open Windows Defender, go to tools, options, scroll all the way to
the bottom using the scroll bar, and uncheck the checkbox to "use Windows
Defender."
AVG should be able to manage this without your having to do this, and
without the icon showing that way, but for some reason this didn't happen on
your system.
