There have been several thread related to issues between Defender and McAfee,
but there has been no response from anyone related to Microsoft or any of the
MVP"s. It anything being done to resolve the conflicts? We were asked to
provide more information, and we did:

If you have IE7 Beta 2 preview in your computer, there is an issue between
McAfee and IE7. I have McAfee VirusScan 10.0 and Windows Defender and I don't
have any conflicts with McAfee and Defender so far

I don't have IE7, but I am still having a conflict between Defender and
scheduled McAFee VirusScans. I am also tired of hearing Mircosoft tell folks
to use IE7 to avoid the new IE6 vulnerability. It's obvious that those of us
who have McAfee can't use IE7. The sales pitch for IE7 is getting old.

Hi

To get yourself a much better protection itīs really important to
upgrade to IE7..... itīs also a great browser !

Nevertheless of latest vulnerability, under the hood there are a lot of
much better solutions to avoid malware.

The problem Iīve seen are some problems with MSXLM and reinstalls cure
it. Also that a lot of ActiveX beeing disabled after upgrade but that
is
only good to start over with IE7. Also a much better cookie handling.

If IE7 was a program from another vendor then MS it would be out but
now we have the problem with business critical applications and laywers
running to Redmond with complaints........... or "donīt eat it"
problems

I have been reading these newsgroups tool long and hearing too many problems
with IE7, Defender and ONe Care for me to go running to install them now.
I'll do that when they are released as a final product - if they work. I
notice they have had to postpone Vista. Problems??? I suppose as soon as
Vista does come out, all of us with XP will be pushed to upgrade. Some other
new vulnerability may conveniently come along to help push us. Maybe I shoud
replace all of Windows with something else entirely!!!

Hi Old Rebel

Well, only take one step and check out any problems.

- WD works.

- IE7 also works and it is ready, this is "only" a "lawyer" problem for
MS. Maybe IE7 destroys some business for a small group of users and
sites. I cannot find any disturbing bugs within latest version.

Also install Firefox if something fails with IE7, then you have a
backup browser.

- One Care.... well.... It is really bloaty IMHO and why even think
about it.

- Vista..... we havenīt seen any real answers about whats going on
with Vista, Mr Nash also goes-"the parrot man", probably also Mr
Ballmer...

I can notice stupid issues with Vista as with Bitlocker and UAP (user
account protection) and I believe MS have severe problems with this
functions and authoritys for jurisdiction and competition now wakes up.

Remember that IE7 is still in beta the same with windows live onecare,
windows live safety center and windows defender. I have IE7 and the only
issue is with McAfee but the engine is still running in the background and
protecting my computer from viruses and malware.

I did not start this thread to debate IE7. I started it because nobody has
suggested a solution for the conflict between Defender and the McAfee
scheduler for scans. I assume there is no solution, or they just don't care
to answer. If you read the two other threads I refererence in the beginning,
you will know what problems I am talking about. It is very specific.

Well

Beta or not for IE7, I believe this only is a "laywer" challenge for MS
Redmond to solve ie a small amount of "sleepy" websites with special
solutions but their laywers can go to Redmond and complain, "business
critical disturbance"

With One Care there is a totally different issue beacuse One Care is
"Intrusive"......

IMHO

Hi

For sure they are working with different protections which interferes
with each other.

But I donīt believe that MS, Symantec, McAfee, TrendMicro (the big
ones) are so friendly to each other any longer beacuse of One Care.

Just wait and see. All of "the big ones" also plans better security
packages as for example Genesis from Symantec.

I am running a special engine from TrendMicro and regularly sends
information to TM. So this will be a battle........
