Forgive me I have REALLY been preoccupied with other things...

Was Defender supposed to be auto installed and MSantispyware beta1 auto
removed??
Defender showed up on my computer last Friday, the antispy beta I'd been
using gone from programs. Surprised, I click on the tray icon. Defender then
says that my defintions haven't been updated for 141 days or 121 days, one of
the two. I run to Discussions and read as much as I can about Defender. When
I tried updating defintions, I got an access denied -0x80240016 . Later my
son told me he OK'd getting Defender definitons. I have Defender version
1.1.1347.0 Defintion version 1.14.1503.8
I ran a scan and it appeared to work, plus when I clicked to check for
definition updates, it said there weren't any new ones. SO besides first
question above, is Defender fully loaded with the defintions it first said I
didn't have?

Help is much appreciated with vow to keep more abreast of changes.

Thanks, Tom. I still don't know how Defender got installed or the previous
MSAS beta got uninstalled. Makes sense that my son inadvertently did it...
