My icon has disappeared from the system tray although it is checked to show
in Defender and the properties for system tray. This has only happened since
downloading the new version of Defender and didn't happened on the old
version. Can you help?

I've noticed that too, occasionally on restarting my PC the WD icon does not
show up in sys tray. As a workaround, I open WD from start/programs, go to
Tools, options, change to 'only if...' then back to 'always', click save.
The icon then appears in systray and stays there thorough a few restarts,
until it disappears again. I have not tracked down the reason.

In response to the first two replies I have already tried to change the
settings around in defender but this has not worked and on the second reply I
don't feel confident enough to change any registry items so if there are any
further ideas on how to get the icon back I would be glad to hear.

Right click on the task bar, click properties, Notification area, click on
customize. Click "always show" for windows defender.

This was one of the first things that I tried when the icon disappeared, it
is 'always show' on the systemtray
