Just installed Beta 2 and receive the message:

The program can't check for definition updates
Error found: Code 0x80040154

Help.

WD is has left Beta2. If you`re completely up to date, you should now see the
following in Help>About Windows Defender:

WD version: 1.1.1593.0
Engine version: 1.1.1609.0
Defs version: 1.14.1825.8

The latest version can be downloaded from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Please read the Overview notes carefully before installing.

Sorry...I mis-typed...it's the latest version...versions match below EXCEPT
for Defs. Once it's installed it goes for an update and fails.

I got same error, too. I have tried both beta 2 before and release 1593
today. Both failed.
Didn't find much clue in the kb. I am running w2k3 standard ed w sp1.
