When I down load or try to install from the web I get this error:
This file does not have a program associated withit for performing this
action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel.
Help!
I have search this news group and the web and I have not found any answer.

1) Place windowsdefender.msi on the desktop:
----
OK--here's another way: You have "windowsdefender.msi" sitting on the
desktop, right?

Do Start, Run, and cut and paste the line below into that box marked Open,
and hit OK:

msiexec /i "%userprofile%\desktop\windowsdefender.msi"

Be sure to get both quote marks in there.

What happens?
-----------------------
2) download this zip containing MSI.REG, and extract and double-click on
that .reg file

I'm surprised how common this issue is--I suspect it is caused by previous
spyware or virus activity--glad its fixed!
