Defender disabling

I have to install AVG and they mention that Defender should be disabled. I
have Vista Premium and when I searched the Internet for instructions on how
to turn off the Defender, I am told to go to Defender and click on Tools and
then Options and then go to:

Administrator options. Deselect the Use Windows Defender box and press the
Save button.

My Options does not have Administrator Options at bottom (nor Use Windows
Defender box).

My Options has two categories:

Automatic scanning AND
Default actions.

#1- Why don't I see/have "Administrator Options?

#2- And, how can I disable Defender prior to installing AVG?

Thank you.
Alice

Thanks. But as explained in my post, I do not have an "Administrator Options"
at the bottom on (Defender) "Options."

I had the Defender window in small screen; when I enlarged window I then saw
the scroll-down arrow on the right side. When I scrolled to the bottom, I saw
the Administrator Options.
Thank you for this simple solution which no one else pointed out to me.

Alice

Dump AVG and use an anti-virus solution which does not require that you turn
off or uninstall competing products. I would suggest Avira..

There is no malware solution produced that can properly protect all by
itself, regardless of any claims..

Avira is great... except for the "nag screen" which is easily removed.

One big advantage of the most recent version is that it includes real
time malware protection.

Nag screen (and splash screen) removal:

Yes, you do. Look to the extreme RIGHT. See the up/down slide ? Use it and
scroll down, all the way down.
