Well it looks like I found the right discussion group anyway. I'm not looking
forward to experiencing some of the problems I see listed here. I'm not even
sure if what I see happening is a problem or not. After Symantec Anit-virus
quick scan runs (& after Windows Defender quick scan runs, becuase Defender
runs 15 mins afterSymantec) Defender kicks out this msg:
An Services & Drivers change was made for a known application file:
c:\program files\common files\Symantec shared\EENGINE\Eraser Utildrv10614.sys.
Is Defender altering a Symantec file every time Quick Scan runs? Is this a
bad thing? Does anyone know?

Just in case there is an answer man (or woman) out there I get this one too:
Windows Defender - An Autostart change was made for a known Application
file: c:\windows\system32\ADVpack32

I will answer this one myself. Yes I believe these are all normal msgs &
indicate that Defender is active & busy. Can I close this post?

I agree, I think. It looks like you've checked some extra boxes--being
notified about changes to known applications, for example, isn't a default.
