Having just recently installed the Defender Beta 2 program I find now on
running a full scan using this program that I am unable to remove the
revealed spyware, some of which is serious including a couple of Trojans and
others.

The Defender Beta 2 reveal the results of the scan when it is completed and
when I attempt to remove the spyware that is indicated, I get one or the
other error message codes come up as follows :

No action taken: Failed: 0x800045005 or
Failed: 080501001

and I am unable to remove the spyware that is listed.

Can someone please advise what best to do, I am not a complete novice but
neither am I that experienced, but learning all the time.

Would the problem be a conflict with the Zone Lab Pro firewall I have
recently installed or some other cause? Your help and advice would be
valued.

Thanks

Hello dd4MPN,

First remove all temporarily junk with CCleaner
http://www.ccleaner.com
Then try Ewido for removal (On-line scan):
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
http://castlecops.com/t137442-CCSP_E...tructions.html

Go for scans in safe mode and also add Ewido and Ccleaner as Ewido performs
great with Trojans and Ccleaner will clear your temp folders where alot of
malware hides installers

These codes indicate that either the objects to be removed are in places
which can't be reached--say, System Restore, or an antivirus quarantine, or,
that they are in archive files--zip, executable zip, etc.

If you go to the system event log--start, run, eventvwr.msc, and do View,
filter, source WinDefend--look for yellow triangle messages showing the
detections. These log records will have full paths and names of the
detected items.

See whether what I wrote above appears to apply, and consider deleting or
renaming the things yourself.

Microsoft is not deleting archive files because there could be valuable user
data in the archive along with the malware. In the cases I've looked at so
far, the archive's sole purpose has been to distribute the malware--but
obviously that might not always be the case.
