Defender Auto Protection Causes my System to Reboot

I installed Defender along with Internet Explorer 7. My system began to
reboot after selecting an XP user profile and while I was working. I turned
off the auto protection feature and condition stopped. I have a first
generation Athlon with 768mb ram. The system works w/o fault.
