I'm running Hamachi VPN on my recently upgraded to vista computer, but
defender won't allow hamachi to run as a startup item. Every time i boot, it
doesn't allow it to run. I try to change settings in Software Explorer, but
it won't let me change anything for hamachi and claims the program is still
being "voted on" in microsoft spynet. Is there any way I can force it to
allow my vpn to run?

I am having the exact same problem. There seems to be no way of adding
exemptions to the Defender programs list, even when logged in as a user with
admin rights. The help is misleading, stating that there will be an option to
"Always allow blocked content" when the program is blocked, despite that
option never appearing in the menu that spawns from the system tray icon when
a program is blocked by Defender.
