I've changed my default browser from IE to Firefox. Since that time, I keep
getting a message when I run FrontPage that FP is not my default web page
editor. Are these related (even though Firefox is not an editor)? If not,
how do I make FP the default web page editor?

I believe firefox comes with "composer" which it believes to be it's default
editor.
I snooped for a while to find an association in firefox but was unable.
if someone doesn't have the answer here, you may want to try the firefox
newsgroup. there was a link on my firefox toolbar.

Does Firefox have an "editor" component? Like Netscape used to (or maybe
still does)?

I know how to make a given program open a particular file type, but I
don't think that's what you're asking.... For instance my .htm and .html
files are set to open in Firefox, and when I double click on them,
that's what happens. If I change the file association to FrontPage, then
when I double click, they open in FP.
All of which doesn't help much.
In FP 2002, on the menu bar under Tools | Options there is a checkbox
labeled "Check if FrontPage is the default editor for pages". I think if
you uncheck this, it will quit asking.
FWIW , I use Firefox and Frontpage and it doesn't ask me, but I dunno why.

Here's a snippet from Microsoft:

To resolve this issue, register FrontPage as the default HTML editor:
1. Start FrontPage.
2. Click Yes when you receive the following message:
Microsoft FrontPage is not currently your default Web page (HTML)
editor. Would you like to make it your default editor?
3. Restart the computer.
