Default web on launch of FP...?

Howdy,

I know that in FP 2003 there is a check box to open FP to the last
open web, but it does not seem to work as I would expect.

I have a web folder called XXX that is on localhost. So the folder is
at http://localhost/XXX

If I open the folder, the web displays. Then I check the FP box so
that the same web will open on the next launch of FP.

But when I next launch FP it opens localhost and displays a bunch of
stuff including the closed XXX folder.

Is there a way that I can get the web that is in the XXX folder to
open as the default instead?

Thanks,

The folder must be a sub web / site, not just a folder or page.

Hi Thomas,

You have said that "The folder must be a sub web / site, not just a
folder or page."

So I thought that I could change the folder to be a sub web of
localhost.

But as I read the helpfile it says:

In the Folder List, right-click the folder that you want to create a
subsite in, point to New, and then click Subsite.
Click the Web site template that you want.
Under Options, select the Add to current Web site check box.

That does not seem to fit my situation in that I don't have a folder
in which I want to create a sub site.

Instead, I have a folder in localhost and I want to change that folder
to be a sub site.

Can you assist by telling me how I can change the folder I have into a
sub site so that I can then have FP open that folder by default?

Thanks,

Howdy,

When I select the folder and right click there is no option to
"Convert to Web / Site." There is an option to Convert to Folder
however. I strongly suspect that this is because what I have is
already a web.

BTW, the folder displays with the small earth icon indicating that it
contains a web...

Because (as you have already mentioned) you do not save the previous
messages in the thread I will explain the situation again:

I have a web folder called XXX that is on localhost. So the folder is
at http://localhost/XXX

If I open the folder, the web displays. Then I check the FP box so
that the same web will open on the next launch of FP.

But when I next launch FP it opens localhost and displays a bunch of
stuff including the closed XXX folder.

Is there a way that I can get the web that is in the XXX folder to
open as the default instead?

Thanks,

Ok, I disabled the function, so try the following, open the sub web /site directly in FP as
http://localhost/xxxx, then set FP to open last open web and see if that works.

Hi again Thomas,

Here is what I posted that started this thread:

"I have a web folder called XXX that is on localhost. So the folder is
at http://localhost/XXX

If I open the folder, the web displays. Then I check the FP box so
that the same web will open on the next launch of FP.

But when I next launch FP it opens localhost and displays a bunch of
stuff including the closed XXX folder.

Is there a way that I can get the web that is in the XXX folder to
open as the default instead?"

So, it would appear that your suggestion is that I do just I started
with as the (modest) problem I am trying to solve.

No, that does not work, and that is the reason that I posted
originally.

Might you have a suggestion?

Sincere thanks,

As long as you set up your news reader to include the current content in each reply, you do not have
to re-type each time.

Ok, forget about what you have already done/tried.

Set FP to not re-open last open web

Then open the subweb directly in FP via File Menu | Open Web and enter http://localhost/subwebname
in other words, do not open http://localhost first and then double click to open the subweb.

Now once you have the subweb directly opened at http://localhost/subwebname then set FP to re-open
the last open web.

BTW: I always open the root, then double-click to open any subwebs.
