Hi,
I like to set the default screen saver on the client pc (W2k) that will not
be overide by any user setting. If I set the registry
\HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop\SCRNSAVE.exe it will still use
the different screen saver depend on the previous setting by the user. I
like to put the standard screen saver on the client pc regardless the user.
Any one can help?

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT is for the system account (or when no one is logged on)

For new users. You can create a profile the way you like it, then while
logged on as another user with local administrative rights Control
Panel|System|User Profiles, select the profile you adjusted, Copy To, Browse
to
%systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\Default User
Change "Permitted to use:" to "Everyone" OK

Thanks for the trick. But I got error message
"Windows cannot copy file C:\Documents and Settings\seto\Cookies\index.dat
to location C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Cookies\index.dat. Contact
your network administrator.
DETAIL - The process cannot access the file because it is being used by
another process. "

Eventhough I login as Admin at local machine.

Sounds like the profile is in use. Logon as another user with local
administrative rights to do the copy.

I think /Profiles/Default User/ will be always in use by the user that login
isn't it?
I can manage to copy across by shared the directory and mapped from other
machine, while no one login on the target machine.

That's what I thought as well, but when I did the first time, I log as
Adminisitrator local, and tried to copy the profile across (not admin
profile), it came with that massages.
Seems to me that the user profile is only for storage, and the active in use
will become in profile/default user/ ?

No, \default user is only used as a template for new users.

Index.dat is the Internet Explorer cache index file. It facilitates the
browser cache mechanism that speeds access to frequently accessed web pages
across different browser processes in the same user context. There's no
normal reason for it to be in use in \default user profile. What is the
date/time stamp on the file?

the date is 14/06/05 13:22 for the /default user
and for the user that I use now is 14/06/05 15:07
It's only 2hrs different.

Your operating system installation is corrupted.
