George

The subject is File Associations.

Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, File Types, scroll down the list
to find TIF and you will see the current programme assiciated with the
file extension and you will also a Change button.

In Windows Explorer if you right click on a tif file you can right click
and select Open with a list of options is offered.

You may need to uncheck "Hide known file extensions" -Start, Control
Panel, Folder Options, View.

These suggestions apply to Windows Xp but most likely also for Windows
2000.

Hope this helps.

I know how to change to assocaition but my problem is how can users change it
since they do not have local admin rights. I have to grant local admin right
to the specific computer ask walk them through changing it and then remove
the rights. A little time consuming to say the least. How can I speed this
proces up.

Sorry George if I misinterpreted your question.

See if anything here helps:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/d....mspx?mfr=true

Otherwise trust the Users and give them Administrators rights.

Hi George,

To change the File Associations may need edit user permission. Another
workaround is to right click on the .tif file and select "Open With", then
click "Choose Programs" and select "Windows Picture and Fax viewer" and
don't forget to select the check box at bottom named "Always use the
selected program to open this kind of file".

Otherwise trust the Users and give them Administrators rights.

If there is anything unclear, please feel free to let me know.

I am looking forward for your reply.

Sincerely
Morgan Che
