Default printer keeps resetting with HP2200

I have several printers installed on my XP Professional
installation. Each time I add an HP2200 printer for home
use, it always resets this printer to be the default
printer. This causes my system to have problems until I
go to Printer & Faxes and choose a printer that is
available. Does anyone know why it keeps resetting the
default printer to the HP2200 printer? The only way I
have found to avoid this is to delete the printer during
times it is not available and re add it when it is
available.
